This is a rather hot topic and this question is becoming more and more common among the couples.
Of course there are couples who love their friends’ and family’s children to attend their wedding, but there are a lot more who either want to have an adult only reception for economic reasons, or because they just want to have an adult only reception for their own reasons.
Tip:
If you want to invite the whole family, address them on the envelope “Family Johnson”
If you want to invite just the adults, address them on the envelope “ Mr. & Mrs. Johnson” and your guests will get the message without feeling insulted
